Andrew

It seems to show the old mapping software only on that incorrect place of Top Springs.

Doug,

Your top image is taken from a position 1 degree to the East (over 100km away) of the real location and a scan around of the area to gain that location....there is nothing there as per the image ;)

Have a look and zoom at this link:

Google Map locations

A= incorrect location listed 1ºE
B= incorrect road junction south of A
C= correct location of Top Springs

Hope that helps,
Andrew

I just put the Co-Ords from the incorrect place into Google Earth and it showed the same old software but was 22.58 Klms to the North of Top Springs, the same location as the normal map shows before switching over to Satallite, go and try it in the places .

Doug,
Streets, Satellite & Hybrid views are currently supplied by Google.......
I have been looking at some other implementation but they are more difficult and I am not sure there is much to gain. So in theory there should be no difference between Google maps and ExplorOz - there may be a difference in Earth and the commercial maps products but I have not investigated this much either.

Thanks mate, I can't work out why the incorrect place listing of Top Springs is going to the old looking map in Satallite, where as the one I made for that Roadhouse last year shows the up to date views in Google Earth, it seems it's just that one , maybe it could be removed , it has no photo's with it.
Did you like the 4 Cowra ones I uploaded over the last few days,

Doug that update was in error and has been removed - the one you mentioned with pics is the only one in the system now.

Yes the updates you did over the last few days are great.

As you can see we are working very hard on places at the moment to build the biggest and best database of places in Australia. I am working on loading heaps of POI's that we have been able to source for all sorts of locations and couple this with information that our system knows about many locations it is proving to be a wonderful update. I am also re-writing all the view pages for the specific searches click on the POI name in the table under the map in places, these pages are new (not finished just new) and hopefully will make finding all our locations much easier.

But rest assured the map data base layers are as up to date as what is available and possible.

Yes the map has 1000's of points all over it now,
and while I have your attention just how many photo's can be uploaded to a place these days, I can remember when it was 9 , with one up the top and that left the bottom set of 8 uneven , I pointed that out to Damian and it was rectified , Now I see I have added I think 20 to one site, if this is the case I might be able add some more to my earlier place uploads, and where I made a Part 1 and a part 2 to a couple we could probably add the part 2 photo's to Part 1 thus making it one page for a site.

Doug, Currently no limit to the number of images per place. I am working to build a better gallery control to show the images so go for your life. The way the images are ordered now is based on rating given to the images, so if you think a photo is better than another and should be at the top rate it highly and it will next reload/refresh be in an updated order. The rating system for the images is now how the selection process returns the images.
Hope this answers it for you.

I am new to this so bear with me. I have also noticed that Camps 5 seems to be out. eg Cargelligo Weir seems to be in a bare paddock 33 12 03 S 146 23 44 E. It also shows the bare paddock in Google. I know we have had a drought for a few years but come on, the river is somewhere.

I suspect it is the datum setup but I am yet to get my head around it. The Satnav is using position format UTM and WGS84 and Camps 5 is using WGS84 datum model. I don't know what postion format is used in Google or Camps 5. I have a host of other position formats that I could use but which is what is the hard bit.

Looks like some bad data there Jim. From my understanding the Weir is at S33º 12' 03" E146º 27' 13"

The latitude is correct, however the Longitude seems to be out. ;)

Hope that helps,
Andrew
