I am interested in two tents. Both 4 person with front vestibules. One is a Oztrail here

http://www.oztrail.com.au/WebPage.gtl?Product=DTE-BCH4-D?currentgroup=ZZZ001?currentsubgroup=ELITE

The other a Coleman here

http://www.getprice.com.au/Coleman-Lakeside-4-Extended-Gpnc_144--41955813.htm

Both are very similar in design - and depending on the vendor - in price.

I was hoping some people on here may have had experience with either tent - or either brand in another tent.

Any comments please on the quality between the two brands ?

Cheers

for what it's worth I'd be buying the one that you can buy locally from a shop that you can return it to if you have any issues with it. Try dealing with an internet retailer when you have a problem and see if it is still money well spent!

I plan to buy from a shop. The links were just for reference.

I really thought someone might have had an opinion on whether there was much difference in quality between Coleman and Oztrail.

As a seller of Oztrail product, i can tell you this.
Oztrail manufacture their own canvas in their own mill. All of there canvas in designed and manufactured in house. Spinifex, dune, denali and many other brand names are Oztrail product.
I'm not saying that coleman is bad, but i do stand by the Oztrail product.

Goodluck with your purchase.

Hi deserter,

We have an Oztrail tent (Oztrail 9), on our camper trailer. Have had it for nearly 4 years, has never leaked , no tears, in fact you could say it is near perfect.

I realise what you are looking at is different, but if the quality and workmanship is the same, I can recommend them.

Sorry, can't comment on the Coleman.

Cheers, Dave

We have the Oztrail Elite. Have only used it once

Good news and bad news.

The first night we put it up was the weekend at the beginning of September that NSW had very bad wind storms. Tree's blown down every where. Unfortunately along with other tents it was flattened. However I was able to repair it with no problem. Being a squarer shape than some other Dome tents it it did catch a bit more wind.

The good news is that before it blew down we found it to be a very good tent the space and breeze way ventilation system far better than our 10 year old Oztrail dome. It was super easy to erect.

Have a good look about as we got ours well below the recommended retail price
