I was expecting the previous post to be moderated - it was for the sale of a 9323 mic. For what it’s worth, I have one of the great Codan 9323’s. I swear it performs as
well as the new HF’s on the market. But, the mic wiring was stuffed when I bought it, and then the mic ‘insert’ ($25 thing inside the mic) died when we were very remote. I now carry a spare mic (picked it up on ebay – they don’t come along very often), and I reckon 9323 owners should have a spare. So give any offer some thought. My 2 cents worth. Cheers

This time it was the microphone, so carry a spare?
But next time it will be the speaker, or a 50 cent transistor in the transmitter or something else! That is the perversity of electronic devices.
If the issue is safety communications, then it may be better to carry a complete alternate such as a satphone or PLB.

I normally carry a Codan 6924 as a backup radio in case my 9323 has a fit.
It has the two main VKS frequencies fitted and is tested (on air) on a regular basis.

Shaker, that’s bizarre. I can only assume you think it was me who put up the previous thread, or that I had some association with the person/company that put up the thread. WRONG! I have no idea who person/company is.
Reason I started this one was to do with the following points: 1) knowing there was a 9323 mic for sale, and thinking there can’t be many around, 2) knowing the price was reasonable considering some I saw in about 2006 when I was looking for a spare 3) being sure people would miss the one advertised given it was moderated 4) having a view that 9323 owners should have a spare.
So I just hoped 9323 owners would track down the person / company that advertised.
Cheers

It looks like the gear has been listed in the Trader section albeit for $5 dearer than the original thread IIRC. ;) Probably the better location to be listed rather than on the forums. :)
Trader - item 4
It wasn't jdwynn's thread rather some business looking name from NT .... IIRC.
Hope that helps,
Andrew
