G'Day

I've got an 86 BJ74 cruiser, 13BT 3.4 TD. Motor is getting a bit tired & am considering my options to keep it alive.

Considering a V8 petrol vs rebuild existing/swap for low k replacement vs selling the car.

Was wondering if anyone had experience with V8 conversions with this car & if so could point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Mark's adapters did kits for these and I'd say still do.

I did a 302w into one about 20 +(?) years ago. We couldn't get an adapter for some unknown reason, so the motor used the existing mounts and we moved the gearbox/transfer and had custom shafts made up.

I'd definitely call Mark's - the more I remember the more I shudder.

The 86's had a disk brake front end? Good stuff with the v8.

I drove one of those for a while way back and seem to remember the brakes were fairly ordinary. If you are going to upgrade the motor are you also prepared to spend the time and money on brake upgrades?
