We are booked in for early January to go to
Moreton Island. I am just wondering if a std trailer hitch is ok getting off the barge?

Yes Steve, no worries. Moreton is not a great challenge.
But you will have a great time.

Standard hitch is OK. The ramp on the Micat does not have a high drop off and is not steep.
Make sure you deflate the tyres on the car and trailer before disembarkation though. The most common place to see people stuck on any of the islands is in the first soft sand encountered off the barge. Most embarrassing if you get stuck as there is always a spectator gallery.

Thanks for the replies, and my goodness the last thing I want to do is get bogged coming off the barge! I have a 5yo who is an expert with my Stauns so he cant wait for this trip. Last time we were on sand we did get bogged and used the Maxtrax to get out so he cant wait to use those as
well, I hope we don't have to! This will be the first time I have had to let the camper trailer tyres down and of course the air pump wont reach so will put an Anderson plug on it so l can plug it into the plug on the car.
Cant wait to get there!

If you are going on the micat, you wont need the compressor.
The micat has air hoses everywhere, just wait till half way across and you wont have to wait for your turn to pump up your tyres, and maybe a lot quicker than what ever pump your using.
Wish I was going to Moreton ( mumble, grumble)
Shane
