I have been searching for somewhere that may sell side rails for my 2002 Prado. Opposite Lock , ARB , TJM are all no go's. Could anyone advise . Maybe I will have to have them manufactured.

You will have to get them made up. They are not available through the normal 4wd shops as you have found out. I was quoted $600 to get them made but never bothered. I presume you are referring to rock sliders ??
these were the ones I went and had a look at that were ebay, was going to bid on them untill I asked how he mounted them up near the reserve tank, "" just get a hammer an belt the side of the reserve tank untill you get enough clearance"" WTF needless to say I didnt bid on them

Thanks Kimba - that confirms my suspicions. I may not go whole hog with rock sliders- I am led to believe that steel side rails with checker plate on the top as a side step would be significantly stronger than my already crumpling alloy side steps. May be you could advise on that . Are rock sliders simply beefed up slide rails or are they totally different?

Hi Robbo, you can just get them made to more or less replace your current side steps but if your going to get them made up you might as well get them made to protect your sills. As with current side steps (alloy) same as my 90 series grande they are useless for protection and are exactly what they are described as which is a side step for getting in and out vehicle. Rock sliders as I have always called them, (maybe Im wrong) but are designed to protect the sills and essentially if you end up resting on a rock the rock sliders will protect your sills and I suppose as named, allow you to slide off the rock without doing damage. Hey Robbo,
Yes you will have to get them manufactured. We just finished a set of side rails/steps for a 120 series.
When you say side rails do you mean brush bar from the bull bar down the side to a side step arangement?

Dan
