Hi all Patrol drivers
called Nissan about the wheel nut recall last night, they had it booked in today and fixed within 3hours. Also while there i mentioned the bubbling on the dash board they have ordered a new one in under warranty which should be done next week. Can't complain about that sort of service if you have same problems get in before they change their minds.
Just have to keep the fingers crossed now as the 05 model 3lt has reached 100.000klm and as yet has not exploded.

Hi Dick
Did they give you back the old nuts ?
Love the wording , can't remember it exactly , but it meant it was all the fault of some uneducated users doing a non-professional wheel change with Nissan condescending to help out with those isolated cases.

Robin, I think the nuts are the same, i assume by my recall notice is that they push plastic gizmos over the nuts and set a red arrow on the gizmos to face the centre of the wheel, 3 per wheel... So the onus is on the owner to check the nuts regularly,,, Michael

LOL!! Laughing here!! The instructions say... Remove wheel cap where required, install wheel nut indicators firmly over each wheel nut......bla bla... you get the idea.. I just sold my alloys and bought a set of old Gu steels, i think they are a much better option but I have to say, the original steels make it look like my old 99 GU.. It does drop the look a litttle...... I saw a camper trailer with GU steels at a show a few months ago, they were painted gloss black and they really look the part.. I have painted my spare black, and it looks 10 fold better than the shabby silver. Now for the rest of 'em.....

hi just had a closer look and they have put them on three nuts only, i didn't remove the cap but they could be plastic.
i think its better to have them fitted incase a wheel comes off, you would have no claim against Nissan now if you don't have them fitted.
Also by going in I got a new dash out of them

Robin,
I forgot to add, What did you really expect from a two bob company like Nissan?? They would have to be the most unprofessional car brand in OZ!! Since Renault bought them, they have slid to the bottom. Look at how they have treated hundreds of patrol owners with engine problems, not of any fault of the owners. Many GU owners had paid around $60,000, that's twice as much as most people pay for a new full sized car and they were treated like lepers when they needed help from a company with a faulty product.. They may have helped some but not all..

Dick,
Dont hold you breath if your wheel comes of... Now that you have your rinky dink indicators on, the onus is on you to check and make sure the nuts havent moved,,, Nissan is smarter that that!!. Its your problem from now on,,,,,

Hey Michael
no problems there I always check before long trips with the caravan on the back, don't bother though with local driving.

Its a strange world Michael , reffering to your followup 5 above, if Nissan had not got into trouble I would not have been able to buy a true chassis coil sprung live axle car with one of the most reliable of all engines in 2010, at a price less than that of 2002.
Is that De ja Vu ?

Robin,
Maybe just, a better car company would have come to the rescue, Nissan would have survived one way or another, Look at Saab and, Rolls and Bently, Daewoo all bought by other companies, Landrover bought and resold again and Saab bought and finally dumped by GM USA.. There is hope for even the crappiest of broke car companies...
