should have it stamped on the bottle some were??

should be a tare, empty
should be a filled weight agg
and should be a max weight on them!!!
but think 470 grams for the gas, at 80% capacity

so minus 465 -470 grams then you should have a rough weight.

Thanks for the reply.. Unfortunately the numbers are not stamped on the bottles, I checked the Bernzomatic & coleman bottles. Maybe because they are suppose to be disposable..

Anyway I'll just wait until one is empty & I'll pop it on the scales then when I get a full one I take that weight also..

Because it is a liquid until dispensed as is LPG in a car.

You can hear it sloshing around in the tank like petrol

How would they weigh it if sold by the litre as it wouldnt weigh anything and also as the ambient varies so does the volume of the gas.

Presumably welding bottles are filled to a certain pressure. I dont really know about them but they are more heavily constructed than an LPG bottle or tank

You can actually take the sender out of a tank of LPG without emptying it by suddenly releasing the pressure and it all freezes in the tank. Change senders put it back and it takes about 10 mins for it to unfreeze so as to be usable.

Have done it several times in Taxi days to enable maximum amount in tank at beginning of shift.

Yes its illegal and inadvisable but can be done.

I dont suggest anyone try it just to see as it could result in a big bang if not done correctly.

880grams when full minus 465 grams of gas equals 415 grams when empty , have been refilling my Coleman bottles with a MacCoupler for the last 6+ yrs.

Mate how much do you manage to get into the bottle with the macoupler? I never seem to get a full Coleman bottle despite doing the whole fridge thing...

Don

I have weighed an empty some time back and recorded it as 392 grams.

I use a Mac Coupler to refill.

Jim
