I am looking at buying a 2000 MK triton GLS, with auto trans. Can anyone give me feedback on how good or bad these are? What sort of economy could I expect (looking at on on gas)? Do the autos give any trouble? Am planning to do a bit of moderate 4WDing and towing a small camper trailer.
Thanks in advance

I had 2001 Triton Auto GLS and loved it. Also had it on gas and it went ok. Towing a loaded Jayco Swan Outback with the car also loaded I got about 220k out of a 50 litre
tank. Knocking around the doors I got 300-320.
It also towed a 19ft Inboard Ski Boat with no problem.
They have a crap turning circle but you can get the steering stops adjusted and it makes a huge difference. Real easy job, the dealer did
mine for me. I had a carryboy canopy on the back.
Not a rocket but real nice to drive. I can't remember having any major issues with it. auto was no bother at all. The only time the Auto light came on was when I was driving in the
VIC High country up a long steep track in summer. I stopped for 5 mins and it was all good. Other than that it was a nice vehicle and I still miss the versatility of the Ute and the large space with the canopy on.
I always have my vehicles dealer serviced so a good service history is a bonus. (Same with all vehicles)
No real negatives.
