Hi I,m thinking about fitting a winch to my existing Bull Bar.
The bar is a genue Toyota (100 series TD, IFS). The bar has a cover where a winch would go but my question is can a genuine Toyota Bar take an ARB Warn Winch??

Possibly without mods but you may need a supporter bracket if the bar was fitted without it. Slip down to a local yota yard and see if they have any on the used car lot with a winch to see if anything is different. Or call a wrecker they will have seen one I'm sure.

Hi,
For what it's worth I have a genuine Toyota 100 series IFS alloy winch bar with a winch installed.
If you are looking at a steel bar I assume it will be the same principal and that is that you will require a cradle for the winch.
Cradles are sold by Toyota and as far as I am aware they are suitable for all brands of
winches.
Regards
Craig

OK Thanks no I,m not looking at a steel bar. if I can get a winch to fit the existing bar that would be great. I,m also considering brush bars etc but told TJM and ARB only make brush bars to suit there own bull bars. That being the case if I cant get a winch to fit I may as
well save the pennies and get a new bull bar to take the winch and brush bars.
My preferance would be to fit a winch to existing bull bar and get a quote to have brush bars custom made

I have a genuine Toyota bar on my 105. It had a cover where the winch would go, but when removed it exposed a winch mounting plate. My Warn M8000 bolted straight up, no extra parts required. There is plenty of space there if one was to fit a larger Warn or similar.

The 100 series aluminium bar (Estate Bar) came in both winch and nonwinch compatible.
The winch compatible one has the knockouts in all the right
places for the winch.
You do need to buy the cradle bracket for it though if you want to fit a winch. It will take the warn winch.
I converted my non-winch bar on my 2002 model by using the above cradle and geting other brackets made up to go behind the bar.
Your Toyota dealer should hopefully still be able to source a cradle for you.

I have a Toyota aluminium winch bar on my 100 series, it is rated to 9000lbs, I have fitted a Warn 9500lb EP Winch. It just fits between the chassis rails. I have fitted a protection plate the full width and bolted it to the bottom of the bull bar and back onto the chassis just short of the crush zone to help with the extra 500lbs. I needed to re- drill the stud pattern to suit the Warn.
I have had the winch at it's maximum load with a snatch block trying to pull a certain bloke out of a bog at MT Bundy Stn last wet season and all held together.
Hope this helps.
