Hi All
I have a 1985 Toyota HJ60 Sahara Cruiser with a Sunroof. It does not work (not that I care) but it is highly susceptible to rust. I have had it fixed twice but as usual it keeps coming back. Has anyone either replaced theirs or replaced it with a glass or a perspex one (where & who did you get the replacement from as I am Brisbane?). Or as a last resort removed it and sealed it over. This is the only issue the vehicle has with rust.
Your help or guidance would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

without wanting to start a war - this would be a good test for a CouplerTec type unit to see what happens, if helped control future rust. Obviously wont fix current rust but would be an interesting test....

as i said lets not start a war

i have a coupler tec unit from previous vehicle. I cant say if it prevented rust as i never had any and dont know if i should have had some. vehicle was >11 years old when i sold it, black in colour and everyone including dealer remarked how well i had looked after the vehicle and its condition.

so i dont know if they work, dont care really as i got it at right price, but i do know it does help with condition of chrome work on bullbars etc and did also appear to help in condition of my paintwork and i never got any rust despite beach work. seen same on 2 other 4wds. so i kept it and stuck it in this one i bought about 3 weeks back. not sure if it can hurt me by doing so, cant think of any reason why it would, and since i already had it why not fit it. FWIW this 4wd is also black so i will be interested in how paint condition and chromework looks. Seems to be all ok at moment. Should i get a rust infestation i will be sure to let you all know that they dont work but until then i cant say that

so if 'Tensionwrench' can also happen to get one at "right price" for him, it may be worth the experiment if he feels inclined and wants to keep the vehicle. Or dont get one, and keep doing what he has done and keep cuttig it out and repairing it. Its just an idea for him to think about considering no one has offered any other solutions to his problem

now remember lets not have a war so we stay on topic please. plenty of other threads about these elsewhere on EO should people want to comment on them either way, so that should really be done there i think ....

Black (dark) coloured vehicles rust less than white (light) coloured vehicles.

Because they get hotter in the sun and dry-out faster.

Had a electronic rust protector in a Commodore on Bribie Island.
The only thing it did was lighten my wallet

Car still rusted.
