Hi Guys
Have been reading all your comments for about a year now, finally plucked up the courage to ask a question. We are hoping to go to SA for our summer break this year but don't want to spend the whole week driving. (We live in
Anglesea) Have been looking in camps 5 and have come across Wrights Bay. A google search tells me that the bay is soft sand but can't find any info on the access to the? We drive a Ford Escape and tow a Goldstream but have no recovery gear. We always
camp with our dog and this rules out most
places.
If anyone could tell me what the driving conditions are at this it would make my decision a lot easier
Thanks
Richard

hi richard, you have a graded road from the highway down to wrights bay
camp ground on the right hand side at
the beach. seeing as no one else has come back i will give you a description of the place bearing in mind it has been a lot of years since we used to to spend many weekends there over xmas. in the early days our vehicle was a vw buggy and it was fine for the beaches but it was light compared to modern 4wds. there was accsess onto
the beach by the
camp ground but to get to the good fishing spots it was about 2km north of
camp. there is also another
camping spot about 3/4 k north of
camp ground and is a good spot but often my rellys are there over the new year. there is also beach acsess a couple of more ks north of that spot so you have a few choices. beach fishing is big mullaway and shark going
well right now. ocasional big whiting and snapper. 30 years ago you could say lets have snapper tonight and garanteed you would catch a couple for tea. catch crays on the line as
well. we used to get plenty of crays in 1 meter of
water with a spear. ah the good old days. great spot, can get bloody hot but our kids grew up there like i did. cheers mm.

Thanks for that murrayman, I'm a bit new at this , we got our camper a year ago, and don't want to get stuck on some sandy tracks until we can afford to equip ourseleves better. Don't mind the heat so long as there is
water to cool down in. Sounds like I might have to practice my fishing techniques a bit though,
Richard
