Hi all, I was just going thru some old 4WD mags and came accross an article on lightweight Fiskars axes. They look good on the website:
http://eng-au.fiskars.com/Products/Felling-and-wood-splitting-tools/Axes
Has anyone had any experience with these?
Being lightweight they'll be better for carrying. On the other hand do they lose much splitting power?
At $80 for the largest 722mm model they'd be top of the range at most hardware stores.
Cheers.

I bought one about 5 years ago to Split up my annual supply of winters firewood. I only have wood heating at home & fill a large woodshed with split gum every year.
Let me tell you I will NEVER go back to using an axe or blocksplitter. If you buy one neither will you. The Fiskars is absolutely fantastic!

Been using one for 5 years or so myself John. Great Axe. They are a little short in the handle for a bif bloke so be wary when swinging and I stand a little closer to the timber than normal. Either that or let the missus do the chopping ;-)
Cheers Mick
