the camping ground at 1770 is on Round Hill Ck., beautiful spot but gets crowded,it's a council run park, good amenitiesbut most popular.Capt.Cook camping ground is a km. or 3 back from the creek and has a more bush setting and you can walk to the beach but it's a few hundred metres. There is a new park on the site of the old one at Agnes, right on the beach and very special but it's a bit expensive if you camp on the beach front sites

We stayed at the new Agnes Water one in August and while it is very new and clean the operators were a bit ordinary. We had a camper trailer and their sites are only set up for caravans so if your trailer opens a certain way they struggle to accommodtae you. Also took them ages to book us in - teething problems i guess.

SWMBO and I (and our 2 daughters & SILs, & their kids, & a couple of their friends & their kids) stayed at the 1770 campground a few years ago..

Being an easter weekend, the place was chocka, but a very pleasant stay nonetheless...

We would not hesitate to stay there again, but perhaps next time, at a less busy time;-)
(can't offer an y comment on any of the other options)

There is workman's beach campground, no bookings and first in best dressed bush style but with some amenities. Right behind the beach.

Two lots of my relatives have stayed at the council run park and have not liked it. The Captain Cook one though not on the water is a better park.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Council run Campground at 1770 but what a crowd scene.

We left early. I believe it does have some quiet times but we didn't find any.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

One place we can definately NOT recommend is the caravan park at Agnes Waters. The people running it are Nazi like, with rules that would make a stalag 13 look like a holiday camp.

When you set up camp, they stand there, arms crossed, watching you. Friends of ours had to then move their site around as the management didn't like the set up. They are rude and arrogant and have no idea about customer relations.

The worst of it was that the so called rules are different for some compared to others, whatever you do don't get on the wrong side of the woman running it, every time you look around she will be checking your site for minor indiscrections, one of which was that people weren't to congregate outside their own allotted areas......hello, isn't that what camping is all about?

All in all a very disappointing experience for a group of experienced and fair minded campers. We very quickly dubbed the management as the "fun police"
