Satellite set up problems

Hi all,
Would love some advice on satellite set up please.
Purchased a Sat system in March this year and was provided 2 cards - Optus authentic and "test". Test card was activated and working no problems at the time but hadn't been used again until today.
Today we have connected our sat dish up, connected the Strong 4664x box and put our test card in and we can't get any channels except a couple of home shopping and NITV. Called our supplier who said to leave the card in the box on 7 Central so that the card could "talk to the satellite" again for around 1 hour as it possibly needed to download the information again having not been used for so long, but it still doesn't work...all channels still scrambled except shopping and NITV.
Then we thought we'd at least activate the Optus card (although after reading the
forum I understand we won't get as many channels) but at this point I would be happy with any SBS and ABC just to let me know it's working! I activated the card via email to Optus earlier today, got a response from Optus almost immediately to say it was now activated, turned the system off and on again as per Optus instructions but still no go. Should I be waiting a certain amount of time before trying again?
I am unable to get another "test" card where I am - in fact the
shop here said that "those" cards were being phased out.
I know it might sound funny but to check the installation of the card with you - it's been inserted chip side down and chip in the Strong box first.
Can anyone offer some advice as to what steps we could try to get this thing working?

Hi
Was your sat. system up and running on the tuning channel, before ringing Optus ? As if the system was off when Optus "pinged" the card, the card would have missed it.

Hi Neil,
It looks like we're all fixed. For some reason our Strong box needed software to be updated. Once the new software was loaded, all seems to be working now.
