wow.... that WAS an interesting read, i will just continue on with the plan of building my own ..........
Why someone would pay $65,000 and ABOVE for a caravan still has me beat, this does explain it a little, people have the money to throw away and the market just cant keep up at the moment so as always in this situation corners are cut and money is made .... same ole story .......

Most people couldn't build their own, whereas you most likely couldn't remove a brain tumour!
I am about to take delivery of a Vista RV Crossover, apparently the prototype cost
well in excess of 1 million dollars in R & D, this money has to be recovered.

hi all
very interesting reading and i would highly recommend it when you have some time as it takes a while but a real eye opener
these two topics reveal that we should be extremely wary of rv manufactures product and quality controls and even though they claim to have this
not only is this a problem for the initial buyer but also rings alarm bells for anyone who is buying second hand beware -beware of the pitfalls when shelling out your hard earned cash or borrowed money
quality controll it is reliant on the the human factor for a genuine inspection by a dedicated quality controller
who at the end of the day is probably only a payed employee and really doesen't give a hoot one way or the other
in lots of cases
and probably has more than one job to do and isn't watching every move during the construction period of each and every van on the premises
and relies on trust for the correct procedure to be carried out by each construction/assembler worker onsite
hence the result is all these bad faults in the caravaners/
forum topics above
cheers

Its amazing really!!, .....What quality control is there?, apart from the same Doofers that are building the thing, She'll be right mate!!!, There needs to be a independant body that has to certify the construction in different stages, to help eleviate some of this shoddy workmanship!
Cheers Axle.

Without naming the manufacturer of my camper van, he gets a big tick for involving me in the construction process. Nothing was too much trouble.
I came away feeling as though we manufactured the thing together. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt, rather than leaving things to chance.
I’ve found a bloke I can trust and he’ll get my business again.
Cheers

Hi All
Todays post by Cabcar is UNBELIEVABLE
:"The caption says it all - or almost all. The intelligentsia here attached the earth wires to the timber frame and not to any metal parts in the van. The chassis and the skin were not earthed at all."
Suggest ALL check it out ,then tell me if you feel safe in your van.
Below are my comments:
THAT is virtually CRIMINAL.
The Ba#*~ards should be shot & that includes the ar#* hole " licensed "electrical contractor?? who signed "OFF" after he did his through testing?
Yep I am Bloody angry
The most basic of tests is earth continuity @ all points .
That includes chassis & any conductive material within 100mm of any part of the 240v system[ window frames, door frames, metal skin,ETC]
When some one dies the authorities may wake up to just what is going on
