I have Aussie truck mirrors! or you can get the same mirors from Camec for half the price.
Just one complaint with them is the mirrors should be vertical and not horizontal! that way you could actually use them better for reversing, or in service station to see the full height of the van in the mirror.
Cheers.

I made up a couple of Right Angle Backets and converted
mine to Vertical, so much better.

Thanks Notso. Bloody brilliant thinking. I wonder how you would go just bending the end at right angles. (The alloy may be too thick) Bob

Yep, thought about that, but wondered about the quality of the aluminium, thought it may crack, or weaken it.

Think I might try the other end and see what happens. If it works I can just drill a hole in it. Bob

Hmmm interesting to see everyone else would like the mirrors vertical as
well.
Might drop an Email to aussie truck in S.A. there very helpfull when I had the wrong strap bracket on
mine they sent me the wider ones, they posted and supplied them to me for nothing.
Anyway I have a block of steel to do the job! tap a thread bottom and side to make the angle and it would be solid.
But then I thought I have a Camry ready for the metal man and it has electric mirrors!!!. So I thought I might pull the mirrors and swich out and set up me own remote mirrors vertically of course and have a much better set up.
But as with all things in my life the to do list gets longer and longer! and I'm only getting around to quarter of the things I would like to do, so the mirrors are on the back burner with 200 other odd jobs.
Cheers

Actually, while you are in an inventive mood why not mount a couple of reversing cameras on little stalks sticking out. Nowhere near as much air resistance, might improve fuel economy?

No thanks mate that means I would have to have little monitors to view the image. Just 2 days ago me HD Plasma big screen chucked it in (4 Yrs) so not real happy with throw away technology for the moment.
Cheers.

Hi Vicex,
We have a set of Ora mirror mounted mirrors. They are good in that you can have then vertical or horizontal but..... the first couple of trips away with them, every time we passed a b-double the whole window would flip in with the gush of air (we have a landcruiser too) so we purchased a stabilising arm to counter act this happening (from their web site under accessories) and now it works a treat.
Here is their website;

Hi all,
Had the same issues with a 200 series. A chrome bonnet uhf aerial mount, a piece of venetian blind cord and 2 hooks fixed it....

If your cruiser is either an 80 series or 100 series, then I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these:
Clearview Mirrors
These would have to be the best mirrors I have ever come across. They bolt directly on to the factory mounting points and utilise the factory electrical plug.
Usual disclaimer.

Just checked their website and see that the 200 series cruiser is now also catered for.

Yep, Roachie has named what I believe to be the best towing mirrors too. I have a set on one of my GU's and without doubt they are streets ahead of anything else I have tried. Not cheap but definately the best.
Cheers, Trevor.

I bought a pair of these .... about $120 the pair, on special - available widely.
Quite happy still - very stable, easy to install, remove and adjust. Would certainly buy them again.

Should have said......... as with many of these things designed in Europe but made by the Chinese - they spend nothing on corrosion protection - I've already had to touch up some superficial rust on the support arms with a bit of spray paint - and they use mild steel washers on a couple of fittings (rust again ! - have replaced then with SS). Still - they are good overall as mentioned - the corrosion is more a disappointment than anything else :-o).

I got a set of Aussie mirrors for our 100 series, around $130 a set. Each time I fit them I have to carefully fold the weather strip on the window down to it from getting damaged by the bracket. Strip cant last for ever. On our last trip we got a bit muddy, I cleaned the window but obviously not good enough as I now have scratches on the drivers door window, should have taken the mirrors off before opening the window.
Have spoken to a number trip of guys with 100 series who use the simple door mirror extension held on with the rubber straps, they all were happy with the operation. Have bought a set, about $30 each, so far so good, easy to fit plus having the second convex mirror on the bottom for blind spots they seem to be working OK.

I should have added with the Aussie type mirrors on our cruiser we have to put the window down before you can take the mirrors off, any dirt between the bracket that slips into the window and the glass is difficult to clean hence the scratches on the window.

Bill and others,
We've had Aussie Truck mirrors for several years and use them frequently and would recommend them. We have used stick on velcro on the bracket that goes into the window area and have had no dramas. We've replaced the velcro a couple of times but it is
well worth it as we have window tint on the vehicle.
We have also put seatbelt neck protectors (don't know what else to call them) on all of the straps as with our Troopy we used to get flapping on windy days and it drove us nuts; nothing now.
We are now using them on our new Prado.
