Hi all,

Just returned from father & son weekend away (only the two of us) at Wollondilly Rver Station, what an embarrassment that place now is and the owner is a very rude and grumpy old man that likes no one. His website is so far out of touch with what he actually offers or more to the point doesn't offer. Toilets are dirty, showers only for pregnant women as too many men my age are using showers he said (my age is 46. There is virtually no firewood on the property but he can sell you much as you want. No 4wd tracks either as we are all track destroyers and we would not pay to complete the track work. Will definitely not be retuning there ever.

Cheers and see your in the bush.

Just checked out their website, looks like a lovely spot to go. I wondered if it was just the 4wd that he didn't like but I see in the website that it is part of what they cater for.
Sorry to hear your weekend wasn't what you had planned.
Cheers

Sorry to hear about your stay Skelly - maybe your missus could sort captain grumpy out, sorry pacifiy him, next time? IIRC some similar views expressed on Exploroz last year (fantastic resource for so many things this site). There's always two sides to any story (might be doing it tough economically?) but you can only go by what you experience. Wombeyan Caves campground might be the go in that area.

Never stayed there, but looks picture perfect from the bridge as you go across the river..

But Wombeyan Caves is a top spot...toilets..showers ..fireplaces ( have to get wood before you get there )..plenty of shade...nice grassy areas..and top caves to go in as well....what more could you ask for ??

Yes it does look perfect but looks can be decieving , he honestly was so rude not just to me but to the people whose money he took before me and the next guy. He told a family staying near me, not to drive in and out the property, just walk everywhere lol.

Your experience there is exactly the same as ours and everyone else we talk to.
It is a lovely spot but he is a real bugger.

Last time we were there my son caught about 8 carp when fishing. On their website it talks about how good they are to eat and if you don't want them bring them up to him to eat which we did. He then proceeded to abuse my 12 year old son for doing so to which i pointed out we were only doing what his website said to which he replied the website is wrong someone should pull it down. he then said we should of let them go to which we informed him it was illegal to do so.
We had a good laugh about the incident later but he is a funny old character.

Still it is a nice spot if you are prepared to put up with him

I agree 100%. My daughter & I camped there about 2 years ago. I chose the spot because of what the website displayed & it looked like a great area. Rude & obnoxious to say the least - we had booked in for 3 nights - stayed 1 & spent the other 2 down at Wombeyan Caves.

Would never go back - a real shame as it is a gorgeous spot.

Cheers,
