Hi All
We were thinking of taking a run down to
Coffin Bay over Christmas and probably wander on as far as
Ceduna. Is this area like the coastal areas around south east QLD and really packed out ?
The wife wants a ride on the Cooper Ck Ferry and since we are heading south may as
well keep going.
Goog's Track may also be an option on the way home but will wait and see how hot the weather is , as we all know things have been a bit different weatherwise this year.
Taking the G.U and slide-n camper so don't need much
camping room.
Any thoughts
Cheers Teza

Hi Tezza
Yes it is busy over there during the Christmas Break, but not like the east coast beaches. There will be many
places that you will be able to get to have
the beach to yourself. As for the beaches, the east coast would die for our quality sand beaches. Googs could be an option as we are still waiting for the hot weather to arrive.
Keep you tyres down on Googs and it is a breeze.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen
Thanks for the quick reply. It certainly looks a lovely spot on all the articles that I have read.
I figure with all the rain in QLD that will keep flowing south the Ferry will still be in use. Tried to get down the
Birdsville track earlier this year when on our annual desert wanderings but the weather beat us and we are keen to see the area with plenty of
water around.
As for Goog's or anywhere else the weather will probably make that decision for us at the time.
Cheers Teza

There should still lots of
water for the ferry. I should have also mentioned that if you are into fishing, the West Coast has some top fishing locations, just ask the locals when you are over there and you will be able to get a good feed. When you are heading down the Peninsula, take the detour at
Cowell and head for Port Gibbon. All dirt roads but some good
free camping spots right on the
water.
Cheers

Was over there a couple of months ago and yes it's a great area and you may have to share but not over crowded except for
Coffin Bay and maybe
Venus Bay.
We did Googs from North to South and it was a breeze. Make sure you have a sand flag though. Weather will be the determining factor as to how com fortable you will be.

AHHH for the good old days
spent many a weekend on the beaches around
venus bay and south of there
certainly wernt crowded back then. People from
Adelaide rarely made the trip that far and beaches such as Dolphins beach used to accessed from the old
venus bay road then through farmers padocks.
It now has a big sighn mt camel beach and a road coming off of alt highway 1

Hi Tezza. Spent some time in
Coffin Bay National Park last January and whilst very hot recommend it highly. Great sand driving and good
bush camping on
the beach. I used Ron Moon's guide on the Nullabour and Pensinula as a guide and it certainly measured up as far as trip planning went. Also spent some time on the
Yalata beach near the Head of the Bite but that's probably a bit too far west for what you are interested in but Ron Moon's description of the area was too much to ignore. Cheers

Hi Leigh
I was reading Ron Moons book, Across the Bight & Nullabor, and that was what first wet my appetite for this area.
I think this may be the book you are refering to and if so it's good to hear that it measured up as far as trip planning.
I figure that if we get to
Ceduna or even better
Fowlers Bay and return via
Goog's track then next time , which would be at a better time of year, we could drop down from one of our favourite tracks, the Anne Beadell, go through
Cook to the Nullabor Roadhouse and keep exploring.
Thank you for your reply
Cheers Teza

Hi Tezza. Sounds like a good plan to me. I hope to have a look at Marilinga one day next time I am up that way. Not sure I want to do the AB again, too many corrugations but a great trip to have done nevertheles. Cheers

Hi Hillel K
Glad to hear there will most likely be no problem finding a
camp spot for a day or two. We should be there around the 28th as
well . Might see you there.
Cheers Teza
