Unless David's recent changes have now made it possible you cannot upload the document with the photos embedded in it. When I did my blog earlier this year I had to upload the text and then upload the photos individually into the blog. The text was a simple copy and paste, but the photos are a bit more complicated. I got in the habit of reducing the pics in size before uploading, and having a little marker that I would insert in the text to show me where to insert the pic. After insertion I would remove the pic. If you are inserting numbers of photos it can be quite time consuming.
I hope this helps.

Teege, If you have time to explain, how do you (a) reduce your photos and (b) load them into the blog?. I've been trying to do so for a while now without success.

Thanks,

To reduce the photos I use a program called "Easy Thumbnails" which is a free download from this site. It's very easy to use. Just read the instructions and try a few different settings till you get the size you want. As I said I reduce all the pics before I start the upload. When you are ready to insert them go to the bottom of the blog and click on "edit blog", when the edit screen opens, click on "upload new images". With a bit of practice you will be able to move the pics around within the blog by clicking and dragging the embedded code (still in the edit screen). To start with it's probably easier to upload one at a time and move it around. Right at the bottom of the edit screen, below the list of tags (categories), is the "Preview" button, after you have inserted a pic go down to that and have a look at the result. Beside the "Preview" button is the "submit" button. When you have finished working with the edit, press this and your blog will be up and ready for all to see. You can always go back in to the edit screen again and edit it further - change the location of pics etc, or add or remove them. If you want to insert a video it has to be already uploaded to "Youtube" or "Vimeo", but the procedure from there is self explanatory once you open the "embed video" window in the "edit blog" screen
Good luck

thanks for that Teege,
i have kept the program for another time as it doesn't have the capability to transfer word docs into a photo program. but the easy thumbnail is definately a good program.
thanks,
John
