Bear Grylls what a show, my son loves it, some things that this guy does is a bit hard to beleive? He would give Pat Callinan a run for his money?
Could be a good idea for the next TV show?

I feel sorry for the poor bloody camera man, sound recordist and whatever support crew follow him around, he gets the credit and they rarely get a mention. I guess that's the perks of being the star............lol.
Cheers Pop

I have had the same thought, Bear doesn’t carry much is his back pack? The camera man must have at least 25Kg ?

my kids "loved" it until i pointed out that rarely one episode goes by without him stating the fact that one MUST drink there own wee to survive, that was a bit "yucky" until the episode of him eating his own poo ...... that nailed it, we now go over how stupid one would have to be to get themselfs into any situation like that without the gear to assist his own recovery, if we did the things he did in real life we would quickly kill ourselfs .....
Give us back the "Bush Tucker Man" any day, that was real and possible to do and totally applicable to the country he was in at the time and i may add all learnt from the old aboriginal peoples ....

He ate his own poo? I recall the one where he squeezed elephant poo to get a drink but not eating his own.

Joen n Mel, one could quite easily be caught in the bush with only the shirt on your back so dont think it could never happen.

I have heard him acknowledge a few times that they cant do some things due to OHS issues for support/camera crew.
I think some people probably lose sight of the fact that the point of the show is to show possible techniques to survive in a given location, not to go out and risk killing all the support crew.

It's way to set-up and scripted for me. I hate that over-sensationalised stuff.

Great Show - bit yuky some times with the things he eats etc - but some of this stuff is worth knowing and its instructive in that it teaches you to think laterally and this approach has certainly helped us from time to time.
I also think he handles the realities of what you have to do to make a credible TV show very
well , and doesn't try to hide the fact that some things have to be set up and the crew acknowledged as
well.

He got called out about a year ago for that episode he did in Hawaii, he was carrying on about how dangerous and isolated it was to be on the lava fields but some camera footage escaped onto the net of his 'isolation' being right next to a busy highway

I have no problem with this. He is there to teach survival tactics not for us to bet if he lives or dies.
The issue I have is with his new show about how to survive a dog attack/car in river/earth quake. He did one on a snake bite when
camping. No mention of a pressure bandage. Just keep the victim warm, relaxed and stationary. Is treating a rattle snake bite different to our snakes?

says more about the people that thought they were busting him being soft than aythng
- Parts of a reality tv show are exadurated, contrived for entertainment purposes?
wow imagine that I never would have thought it possble
