Does anyone have a 12v/LPG
water heater in their 'van ? I've seen them advertised and wonder just how efficient they are. I would plumb it to an outside shower as opposed to boiling a kettle on the stove and filling the canvas shower bucket.
Rob.

We have one in our van it is LPG/Electric and 12 volt for starting. It came standard with the van. When running on LPG it heats up in about 5 min.
I would recommend its great to be able to stop and
free camp and have a nice hot shower. When using LPG we only switch on when required. If in a caravan
park we leave set on 240VAC.
Look at this website as prices range, also try ebay?

Hi Rob,
I also have one fitted in the van but it was factory fitted. It works
well
As you are fitting the shower external to the van I would recommend you look at those external portable gas
water heaters on ebay as they represent good value for the money. No license is required to set them up unlike the unit fitted internally to the van. One trader has a video showing how to set them up and can supply a 12 volt pump if required.
The units I am referring to are designed to be mounted on a wall or a pole and are flueless.
All fixed LPG appliances must be installed by a licensed LPG gas fitter, especially for insurance reasons. So the internally fitted heater setup with external shower fittings could
well set you back about $1250 not including your time to fit the unit in a suitable location in the van.
The heater will cost around $700, the external wall mounted shower setup for the van last time I saw one was around $250 and then you have pipe, fittings and the gas fitters time to install and stamp a new compliance plate.
Regards, Bruce

should have added that the external heaters on Ebay cost around $200
while the units fitted inside the van start around the $700 mark.

The only 12 V hot
water systems I have seen are the Duoetto or Optima ones. They are 12/240 V models.
See this link
What is th eweb site to view your gas/12 V models?
