Saw these at the Perth 4x4 & Camping show last month:

Tourlite campers

I don't know why, but the Minister for Finance has now decided that she likes them and that it would be a good idea to buy one. Not being one to pass up an opportunity like this where I am given Ministerial approval to spend money (with a catch that I have to sell a motorbike) I went and had a squiz at them today.

Essentially they are an Erde box trailer with an Oztrail camper trailer tent attached to it. 2 year warranty (only 1 on the tent though) and will throw in the hard ABS lockable lid for an extra $500 (can't be used unless you unbolt the tent). Comes with jockey wheel, stabilisers, locking hitch, spare wheel and an annexe but with no sides. A big black mark (for me, anyway) is the oddball European wheel and stud pattern, and sealed wheel bearing and hub unit. They all have that rubber-torsion independent suspension with shockies and the drawbar goes right back to the axle, however the body is not welded to the frame, it uses aviation rivets and brackets to attach everything everywhere. Tare weight from memory was just shy of 400kg.

We don't have a 4x4 and would be towing it behind my Falcon sedan, so we don't need an off road camper and my philosophy is that any camper we buy won't be going anywhere the Falcon won't be. It would only be used a few times a year so we don't need all the bells and whistles - all we want really is a trailer with a tent on it. This one is $5,500.

Question is - does anyone have any experience with them or seen them around the traps? There is an archived thread from 2 years ago but it seems like not a lot was known about them then.
