Hi all

I would like to know how other van and camper trailer users protect their plugs(trailer plug / anderson plug and camera plug) when not using the van or trailer. I have tried covering them with a plastic bag sealed with some tape however when I went to move the van last time the bag had water in it and plugs where all wet. Does any one have any tricks they can share with me or others as to project them from the elements.

We have been full time on the road for the last 10 years & I only have the trailer plug but i sit it up around the hitch handle area & stick a plastic bucket (about $5) over the hitch & connector (align the pourer on the bucket with the handbrake pawl) with the bucket handle hanging down & use the safety chain shackles around the bucket handle to stop it blowing off

I also put a 2nd bucket over the jockey wheel handle to stop rain water getting down in the thrust bearing area

Regards Don

Hi Vern

Don't know about the trailer or camera plugs but I bought a anderson plug cover which seals the anderson plug and has a spring loaded cap at one end that closes when the plug is not in use. Keeps all the rubbish out.

Bought mine from Derek at ABR Sidewinder, an advertiser on this site.
About $19 or so from memory.

Cheers Teza

I had one of those. Hole in the cap where the spring is still lets rubbish in. And the cap disappeared off mine between uses. Don't think they're worth the money.

When not in use, just hang them somewhere facing down....water can't travel uphill...never had a problem in 20 yrs !!

I always heatshrink and seal the back of the plugs, so the only way for water to get in is the front of the plug !!

have seen some people mount the opposite fitting (Female part) somewhere on their A Frame and simply plug the Male plug fitting into it when its not in use. Not sure if that is type of thing you are after....

Vern
We place ours right up in the eye of the A frame under the V plate on top of the A frame.
Does get caught in there sometimes and is a bugger to get out, but at least all is dry.
Cheers

Vern and Leaanne,

We use a stubby holder over the caravan and camper trailer plugs and have caps for the Anderson Plug Fittings.

Yep
We use a stubby holder as well. Works a treat.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
