For the weather watchers on EO, we’ve had a drenching the last 24 hours. Nothing much on the news about it but it’s been a fair event around here.

I’m in NE of Adelaide and we’ve got a new December record for a day. But we’re just 2-3km from a local weather station and had a massive storm early afternoon yesterday that didn’t even register at the station – reminded me of a SE Asia monsoon – but there was hail too.

Central Adelaide weather station has almost (69.8mm vs 72.8mm) set a new December monthly record in just 1 day. Not big numbers compared to other states but big around here.

I see Hamilton in Vic has had over 80mm.

Also, has anyone noticed, Leigh Creek has more than doubled it's annual rainfall.

Cheers

Hi
They just said on the radio that this was the wettest 24hours day in December since records have been kept.

I have had just over 85.5mm of rain here in the Clare township since it started raining around 3.30pm yesterday until 6.30am this morning. Most of all that rain fell up until 9.30 pm last night, as when I checked the rainfall readings for the last time last night. The last reading at 9.30 I has 82.2mm of rain, with only just another 3mm of rain overnight.

The main road up from Adelaide is closed at Templers, so the only way up this way will be through Balaklava.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Ray,
You don't know how much we could!!!!!!! Not for our sake because we're on high ground at our house but for the other poor people who aren't and for W.A.s farmers sake & the rest of the country's farmers sake. We work on a potato & beef farm ,.......Too wet to plant potatoes in places.
Take care, safe travels. Bye Ma

We'll all be rooned!

Downy mildew for the grape growers
Flystrike for the sheep farmers
Rain damage for the cherry growers
Mozzies attack city dwellers down south
Wheat crops degraded
A plague of locusts

And rain kicking dirt halfway up the side of the parked car!

Wet right up to the Border,

At work in Renmark we got 82 mm, home at Barmera 90mm, not bad on an average rainfall of 250mm/year.

Coates hire at Mildura no longer have any large diesel pumps left we snaffled one of the last.

I'm sitiing on approx. 8 million litres of stormwater in my contigency dam at work.

Water level below lock 5 increased 180mm yesterday only has 300mm till its over the top.

Rumour doing the rounds is that SA Water is booting everyone off the low lying areas (caravan pks etc) stating they are expecting 90,000ML to come over the border - True??? who knows

"stating they are expecting 90,000ML to come over the border - True??? who knows"

I don't doubt it for a minute.....

Apart from all the water in the 'Bidgee, there's plenty more yet to come down the Darling, and the Menindee Lakes ain't going to stop it this time......
