CB,

Check this link, (I think it's the right one) I sure I read somewhere recently that some of the tracks you mention are closed due to flood damage etc.

Murray crossing @ Tom Groggin: Expect it is too deep at the moment due to recent rain but may drop in the next 3 weeks.

Davies Plain Track to Charlie Creek: Davies Plain Track
Between Charlie’s Creek and Tom
Groggin Station closed
Wednesday 1/12/10 till at least
Wednesday 31/12/10 (including
weekends)
This track is currently impassible due to track damage,
land slides and major flood damage. The track will be
closed for public safety while essential flood recovery
maintenance works take place.

Zeka Spur track: Was chopped up opening weekend & regular rain since will mean it wont have improved much & will be very slippery in places. I'd say it's not suitable for trailers when wet.

King Billy track: Still closed due to massage damage near the Macalister river crossing. Parks are working on the problem & expect to be open some time in Jan.
Wonnongatta Station: Open via all directions but continuing rain means rivers will be far higher than usual summer levels. With many river crossings being washed out a snorkel would be good insurance this season.

Parks Victoria have asked that visitors are to avoid the Wonnangatta Area and surrounds due to swollen rivers and inaccessible tracks.
Please exercise caution when visiting remote areas of the Alpine area after the heavy rains.
Due to the unforeseen weather changes, visitors are becoming stranded due to rising rivers and flood damage to the areas.
Visitors stranded have not been able to be rescued for a number of days due to swollen rivers. Also, please ensure you take enough supplies for a few extra days if you do happen to get stranded.

Hi Crackles,

Got a snorkel, got a bra for the radiator and all the usual recovery gear but better chuck in a pair of flippers as well me thinks.

With many rivers running at four metres today you better include an outboard motor as well :-)
All jokes aside it may be wise to consider alternative routes away from the major rivers & dangerous crossings. I suspect there will be even more track closures to contend with as well due to landslides following yesterdays 60 to 100mm of rain.
Cheers Craig.............
