Morning all,
Has anyone been down Varneys track on the
Snowy River recently? I am after details / condition etc.
I have checked the relevant Gov sites and no info is listed.
Looking at going there between Christmas and New Years then up through McKillops Bridge & Barry way.
Cheers

Haven't been that way recently, but I am aware the area was fire affected and Yalmy Rd closed for quite a while, so I suggest a phone call to DSE (perhaps in Orbost?) would be the go. When I travelled it a few years back it was in good condition (a reasonable gradient, and narrow, but nothing to worry about), and some had taken small caravans down their to Hicks campground. There was a decent bog hole to get to the Snowy itselt at
Jacksons Crossing, but the track down to the campground was no problem.
I hope I'm thinking of the right track (Off Yalmy Road, down toward
Jacksons Crossing?)

Thanks Tim,
Stayed at Hicks years ago and enjoyed it very much. I wasn't aware of fire damage and will ring the DSE.
Cheers
