Fridge short circuit

I have an Electrolux three way fridge which has decided to throw the safety switch. We had a storm last night with winds + rain hitting the side of the van with the three vents for the fridge. The floor was wet under the fridge. I have cleaned it all out and run the fridge on gas today effectively drying out the area. Is it likely this could be the cause of the problem? The wires appear to go into a sealed section, so can water get in further? There is a 5 week wait for the local caravan repairer, so will a general appliance repairer do?

THanks,

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Likely a bit of that storm moisture in the fridge electrics somewhere. Will probably dry out OK with a little warmth and time.
An electrical appliance workshop should be able to check it and move things along a bit faster. Preferable than a caravan repairer anyway.

Good luck.

Cheers
Allan

Anthony,
with the vents off place a fan in front of the hole and blow air behind the fridge for a day, that will dry it out if it ever stops raining that is.

Have a good one

HI Anthony
you did not say what model 3way. But if does not have an electronic circuit board??
Just close it all up & run on gas for about 24hrs'
The heat should safely dry it out .
Do not be in a hurry to retry on 240v, until @ least 24hrs of drying.

It does not take much moisture in the right place to trip a RCD

Anthony, I can't help with the repair, but my experience has been that the caravan repairer will simply remove the unit and send it to a fridge repairer. Our local fridge repairer in Newcastle has plenty of experience with caravan fridges and will remove it and re-install it.
