We are off to do the Tassie West coast 4wding off road in about 2 weeks. Have they had all the rain Victoria has had and how are the tracks eg
Sandy Cape,
Montezuma Falls etc? Has anyone been there recently? We would appreciate up to date advice. Chris.

We haven't had the amount rain here that has fallen in Victoria, but that's not to say it won't happen in the next couple of weeks.
As for the present condition of the tracks in the west, can't help you.
Cheers
Baz

Hi Chris
Just got back from Tassie on Stauday after a quick 2 week lap went anti clockwise
Went down the west coast through the Tarkine from Marrawah/ Arthur river/
Corinna to
Zeehan
The gravel road is all good didn't do any beach work around
Sandy cape as it is highly recomened not to on your own, and the Balfour track was very wet and again convoy only
The
ranger at Athur river was very helpful and had lots of pictures of drowned or sunk vehicles you will need to stop there as
well for an off road permit free at the time, but a fee system currently being introduced.
Started of down the
Montezuma Falls track at about 4pm for a few klm and was very wet narrow slippery and a bit boggy was a lot slower going that i though, being late turned around, run out of time and didn't fancy being stuck out there late, save it till next time.but it dosent get dark till 8.30 ish
The picture is some of the better stuff.
went to a few ather
places as
well but the rivers are all up and to flowing fast to cross.

Thanks Rob. We have 4 fully prepared vehicles with all the recovery gear and lots of
VIC high country experience. We have our permits already but we will stop and get a reality check viewing the photos of other people's disasters. Our theory is to let our mate who thinks he's a legend go first and if his vehicle disappears we will know to stop and retreat! Thanks also for the photo. Cheers , Chris.
