Hi All,
Can any one give any up-to date info on the condition of this road? Looking at doing it on Friday depending on the conditions. I don't think it is a quicker way unless if some body can confirm this?? Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

Done couple of weeks ago.
Went 110 all the way .. some corrugations in the first half, second half is much improved and pretty good ... saved me 2 hours from Norseman to North of Perth
had no problems at all, passed a couple of caravans along the way.
Go for it .. don't see why not
have fun

Hi Mathew, check with the Shires of Kondinin and Dundas to see if it is closed, I doubt it is as they only close it for rain, generally the road is in good condition it is pretty well maintained by the Mining guys and the Shires. Just watch out for road trains from the mines. POI s on the road are the Breakaways, McDermid rock, Lake Johnston and Disappointment rock. Cheers, Kanga.

Yep, also did it about 3 weeks ago. Good condition high-speed dirt. You save about 100km, I reckon. Just look out for mining trucks, as there are some significant mines out there.
The wildflowers were quite good in some places as well, making the trip a bit more interesting.
A nice overnighter is at The Breakaways, signposted about half way, maybe 2/3 way towards Norseman, just to the south of the road. Good camping and dunnies.

hi mattew s
i think it would be fair comment to advise that you drive to your own ability rather 110km on that rd
if you do a search on this rd topic most in the past have recommended 80-85km hr
now all of a sudden it has become a high speed drive rd
i do take on the fact that the shires are slowly improving the rd conditions but all i'm saying is dont throw caution to the wind while travelling that section and enjoy the trip and take a break and look at the feature sights as mentioned

its a lonely rd and if you get into trouble you could well be there for some time before help arrives by way of another motorist or rd train driver
there are about 3 rd trains a day plus the odd traveller on a daily basis

i'm not been a panic merchant or having a go at those that chose to drive at 110 but the rd is gravel and very dusty and is enclined to be of loose nature with a few corners
respect the rd train by slowing down and they will respect you
cheers have a safe trip

Thank you all for the responses. I can guess that the road is in good conditions and that is the reason you can do 110. I know that means i do not have to and need to drive as per conditions. Once again thanks.
