I need some help with a rubber squeaking noise coming from the rear drive shaft just forward of the diff in my 2004 diesel ford courier.
I have greased the rear uni joint & sprayed grease around the rear seal but noise is still there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
David

If the squeak is mainly when you initially take off , I would say its definately the uni joint.
It might look okay and have no movement if you give it a shake.
But try and unbolt it at the join and see if swivels freely. If it has any stiffnes replace it .

if it has a 2 piece T/shaft , check the centre bearing
have come across a lot of noisy bearings
mechpete .
sounds like uni joints , pull the tailshaft OUT to check them otherwise ya wasting ya time .

Mate is it your drive shaft????
Have you done anything to your
suspension ie upgraded it at all???
If you have upgraded your
suspension then they might be dry, ie someone forgot to put enough of the red grease they give you on the pins!!!
if it is your drive shaft then i think your up for a new center bearing!!!
i hope this helps.

hi witch doctor
there is a sliding spline section on your rear tail shaft
just behind the center bearing yoke there should be a grease nipple a short one if the spline hasn't been greased for some time the spline will queak with the slightest movement the nipple may be missing it's in the thick collar behind the uni yoke
pump a heap of grease through the spline nipple and wipe off excess then go on a drive x-cross over some curbing or humps to get the grease distributed on the spline and it should stop squeaking this caught me out once on my bravo 1997 diesel same set up
the spline gets a lot of use each time the
suspension
moves up or down that spline slides back and
forth
cheers

Thanks for all the advise with my squeaking noise.
It looks like the spline in the rear drive shaft is in need of some grease, it will get some attention in the morning.
Thanks again.
