Hi all,

Does anyone have a Hyclone fitted to a late model D-Max, if so, are you happy with its performance?? Do they work on diesel motors with turbo's?? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If you're talking about the vortex generator thingies, they are pure placebo, along with those cheap electric 'superchargers', fuel line magnets, hydrogen generators and 'octane booster' additives.

Don't waste your time or money.

Speaking from personal experience I fell for the spiel and fitted one to my 4.2 LandCruiser, I keep accurate fuel use figures and there was absolutely no improvement in economy after fitting the Hyclone. Another sucker !

hi wayne and gabby
dont waste your time or money the only people who boom them up are the ones that sell them they get rich from fools who are gullible

i was fortunate to be able to borrow one and installed it for free
i put it in one afternoon before going to pick up my 2 teenagers from bunbury high school which is up at the top of a moderate hill the mazda finished up struggling up the hill in 2nd high the hiclone had a simular effect to stuffing a wud of rag in the intake
the vehicle returned home in the same gutless manner that it had driven to the school
and i pulled it out totally convinced there a big con
just like all these other gimmicks of so called inventions that are percieved to increase power or turn your vehicle into a zoom zoom wonder machine

fit a supercharger or turbo if you want more power they arewell proven power boost systems world wide

if you already have one then look at increased air intake with a snorkel or or free flow air filter
or a larger exhaust system as they are well proven with good results

any piece of inserted equipment that reduces the internal size of the air intake and restricts air flow imho has got to have a very negative effect on an engines power output its simply elementry
if there was any real proof that they worked the manufactures would have bought the rights and they would be in every vehicle and in every auxillary engine on the market
cheers have a good xmas /n y

Going by the responses my original thoughts were correct.
As I suspected, just humans ripping off humans, a sad indictment on our society.

Thanks to all

can i ask why do you want to put one on a "late" model D max..... from what i see they have pretty good fuel comsumption and putting anything like that on a new car is going to risk warrenty, are the D max not as good on fuel as they say ???

Hi Joe,

Nothing wrong with our D-Max, but we are about to do the 'big lap' towing a van. I thought if the Hyclone did what it is advertised to do it (improve power and economy) it would have been a good investment.

You guys have never put on twin Hyclones this is how you get unbelievable power and economy figures.

The unbelievable part is they will stay the same.

Actually as they claim to give you 20% better mileage the correct thing to do
is use 6 in line and tow a tanker to catch the 20% extra.

ROFLMAO

Qantas fitted one to a 747 RR engine just last month but I haven't heard if it improved the performance or what. Anyone heard anything?

Cheers

Lot's of people bag things without even trying them there's just some people who won't believe in anything maybe their just to narrow minded or don't research things very well they just decide there's no way it can work. Wait for the responses now...Well anyway that aside I have talked about Hiclones before if you can find it but I had a HJ61 cruiser factory turbo 33" tyres with 2 Hiclones economy went from 11.5lts to 10.7lts at 100kph from memory it took me 4yrs to decide to give them ago I done a lot of research first but they didn't help my turbo disco they don't work on everything 4X4 Australia done their own tests some yrs ago on an 80 series & got about a 1.8ltr per 100km improvement but lost 2kw of power I could be a little bit out with the figures I say be sceptical but give it ago money back if not happy.... ps ..I have been researching the hydrogen kits for about 1yr & talked to a distributor in my area found out the stainless systems give off a very poisonous gas so I'm looking at installing a titanium system in my patrol in the distant future just maybe one day when I've done this I'll be able to say my 3 ton twincab patrol uses about 8lts per 100km pretty good for snake oil.

Just get one of Brockys Fuel polarizers and savbe you all the trouble.

Friend of mine tried hydrogen but reckoned faor a system that made enough he would have to mount it on a trailer.

Has it not occurred to people that if these things were as good as claimed that manufacturers would be incorporating them into the cars they make.

Years ago static straps were all the go for car sickness Marvelous thing cured millions.

Only thing is once the vehicle got above 25kph the strap trailed along in mid air.

Mind over matter EH.

You would have got the same economy by just lifting your foot a bit and thats what probably you did unconciously when you fitted them.

Incidentally 100 ser already have one fiitted in the air intake. Its used to spin the rubbish that might get in down into the outlet for it.

Took mine out when I enlarged pipe from Snorkel Fuel consumption didnt go up.

If I lifted my foot a bit then my speed would decrease wouldn't maintain 100kph as I said they don't work in everything but if somebody claims they work they must gullible in you expert opinion Ill keep gaining the benifets at the fuel pump .. hang on maybe I only got better economy when I was driving south driving north is uphill isn't it so I used more fuel oh silly me

You've got it all wrong - reason they don't work here is they imported the Northern Hemisphere models that spin anti-clockwise. Buy the Australian manufactured model which spin clockwise and they work a treat !!
