Hi all , we have just been told that our bush
camp spot for the last 10 years is under 6 ft of
water . We are looking for something kid friendly and where we can take the dogs aswell .
We are based out of
Adelaide so somewhere within 500 km would be great .
I'm open to all suggestions .
Cheers K

Kristos,
The river has swollowed it hasn't it :) I live in the Riverland and unfortunately this year New Years is going to be spent at home instead of
camping at our favourite spot :(
Although did have a brilliant run up the Kat 2 weeks ago in the boat, straight over the stony weir must have been under 8 foot of
water.
Just a thought ring Loveday 4x4 and see if any of their
camp spots on the river are still ok, Tony Whately is the contact
PS watch any river sports or swimming the river is flowing at an unbelievable pace I would not be in the
water this summer until things slow down.

Hi Jim
We head up your way a far bit. I know that there is still lots of
water coming down from all the floods in NSW, but how fare are the river levels up at
Renmark at the moment.
Cheers
Stephen

I tried Loveday a while ago and his attitude was that I could have a spot provided a bigger group didn't arrive. He makes more money out of groups and was prepared to cancel my booking if something better (bigger group) came along.
He'll never get a $ or recommendation out of me!

Hey Stephen,
Above lock 5 is still ok pool level is normally 16.3m and current level is 16.38 so not a lot of difference, below the lock is another matter. They have removed the navigable passes at each lock so there is no structure for about 10m and all of the boards have been pulled out, so the river is up anywhere from 2-3m higher than usual. So the further you get away from above the Lock the more impact you have with high
water.
Water flow is incredible, I heard about the drowning at
Mannum unfortunately I don't think it will be the last.
We are trying to get info on what the near future holds but is difficult either people don't know or wont say. The prediction this week is for approx. 62-65000ML of
water to come over the border per day. To put it in perspective last year at this stage we were aroung 5-7000ML per day. (1956 flood was 345,000ML/day)
Sorry Kristos for hijacking the thread ;)
Jim

I think it will get a lot higher then that. Most of the large storage dams in NSW are spilling and the bidgee was flowing at
well over 100000ml. Also The Mac was at this height as
well, but a lot will get lost in the marches. When you consider every NSW and Vic river is in flood plus some more now from Queensland I think this will only be the beginning.

Have you looked down the Coorong - lots of spots there and it must be great with all the
water. I fly
Adelaide>
Melbourne frequently and it is looking great from the air!!

Kristos,
OK plan B, but the dogs will be the problem,
Loch Luna Game reserve is just above Lock 3 and I would expect hasn't been inundated like some other areas, either there or the back of
Lake Bonney.
However I havent been out and checked, if you were interested you would need to ring the Rangers.
Unfortunaely with approximately half the campsites in the riverland under
water at the moment everyone will be fighting for the remaining spots.
Good Luck
Jim
PS thats why we are heading to the Mount for New Year

North Lake is great at the moment. (north end of
Lake Bonney) There are still plenty of spot along the river that are okay although many are going under
water and more as the days go by. North Lake is safe as
well, no current like the river has and mostly sandy bottom.
