Christmas Camping at Straddie - anyone know the latest??

Hi all,
We are booked on an early barge to North Straddie on Christmas eve and have just heard rumours that the barges may not be running due to the weather?? We are prepared for bad weather... it seems inevitable but wondered if anyone has an update on the barge situation and/or latest weather in the area?

I can't imagine them shutting the ferries down just because of some rain. The wind forecast - which could potentially result in rough seas - is not that bad. Neither of the main ferry companies mention anything on their website.

Yes, I thought the same thing... a friend that we're travelling with said she saw it mentioned on the news. Probably just media hype but will give the ferry co a call tomorrow to confirm.

Its not the rain they are worried about, but the amount of
debris washed down the river into the bay.
Best bet is to call, there is a lot of media hype as its a slow news time of year.
I'll be out getting wet
camping next week, enjoy your trip.

We have been over to Straddie when the waves have been breaking over the Ferries Bows and the vehicles have got drenched, nothing much stops them, I know the media mentioned the City Cat Ferries have discontinued service due to flood
debris in the
Brisbane River, have a good trip.

Spoke to Stradbroke Ferries this morning and they won't be cancelling any ferries :)
