Hi I have a 2000 model hilux and I want to mount a winch in the bullbar. Does anyone know if I can mount a winch straight in my alloy bullbar or do I need a steel cradle. It is winch capatible as it has the hole behind the number plate and the alloy is 6mm thick.

G/day,Yes you do need a steel cradle,it should be bolted to the chassis, the bar maker may have a ready made cradle, I have an 8,000lb.,winch on an alloy bar and it pulled the cruiser and c/van out of a sandy river bed easily with a pulley in the line, had to winch about 40 meters Regards Keith C
