Tyre size 2002 mazda bravo

Hi guys, I have a 2002 td bravo with stock tyres. Can anybody tell me, from their experience what the maximum tyre size with no lift would be?
I've been offered 235/85r16 for a good price.

Tyre width isn't as important as height.

Thank you very much!

Check on the drivers door area or in the manual for the correct size.

Putting larger diameter tyres on will alter you gearing Make it slower off the mark and put your speedo out depending on what size you put on.

For the minimal lift is it really worth it

Remember if you put tyres 2" higher you only get 1" of lift or less depending on how they bag out.

Depending on where your vehicle is registered, getting bigger tyres may not be legal without engineering certificates.

NSW for example...

The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle and not more than 15mm below the smallest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle.

My son has a 2001 mazda bravo and he has just fitted 265/70 on 16in rims.

He has also had a suspension upgrade which gave it a 2in lift.

Looks great.

I have driven it before and after and there is no noticeable difference in the speed or take off. Seems to drive just fine. The speedo is out a couple of Ks now. You can fix this by purchasing a different drive cog for the speedo cable.

On the door pillar the manufacturer specifies either 15in or 16 inch rims for this vehicle. I think that makes it legal to go the larger rims.

Cheers

I don't think it works that way. My Lux for example came factory fitted with either a 205 x 16 or a 255/70 x 15. The 255 works out at 738 mm in diameter. The 205, according to the Bridgestone web site, is 235 mm. That is only a 3 mm difference which is understandable because the manufacturer is not going to fit tyres that will give different final drive ratios, speedo readings and brake ratios.

A 265/70 x 16 is 777 mm or around 40 mm larger. If I was to fit those to mine I would make it illegal just to get a 20 mm lift.

I don't know what size was originally fitted to a 2001 Bravo but just about everything had a 205 back then as the basic tyre so there is a good chance that was it.

hi
lunker
mazda bravo have run 16 inch while ford courier used 15 inch so both are legal you would only have to watch the width does'nt go outside the body line and stay within the tyre plate guide lines and your states legalities
cheers
