Dustin
Hello,
I hope someone can help me out here, the small internal battery on my (approx 7 year old) Engel 39l fridge needs replacing, the one that drives the temp display. The fridge is at
home but I can get to a battery
shop today.
Can anyone help with the battery type and code for a replacement?
Thanks,
Dustin.

Usually this is just the battery has gone flat. It is quite easy to change, please refer to your user manual, simply remove the lid and the Philips head screws holding the top compressor cover in place, on the MT45F-S and MT35F this includes the hinge screws. Then gently turn over the end cover and you will see on the back of the temp display a round cap, to remove turn anti clock wise with a flat screw driver bit, and you will see the battery inside, remove and replace with a new battery. Replace cap, cover and all the screws and you are done. There have been two types of battery fitted, once again please refer to your user manual or the label on the inside of your lid for battery selection, LR44, or CR2032.

Hi Dustin
Depending on the age of the fridge, the fist models that had the displays took an LR44. Due to there fairly shot life (12 to 18 months out of 1 battery) they then went for the lithium CR 2032 which should last in excess of 3 years. My first battery with the CR 2032 lasted nearly 4 years.
So depending on the age of your fridge, they are the 2 type of batteries that they take and both sell for under $3.00.
Seasons Greetings

I don't wish to be picky here, but I think your fridge may be a 40l not a 39l. The 39l one of which I own does not have a temp display at all.
Mine's a bit over ten years old and I think Engel changed to the 40l with the temp display a year or two after I bought
mine.
Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong here.

Hi Jon
You are 100% correct and I did not want to say anything. I have both, a 17 yo 39 litre and a 5 yo 40 litre.
Took the 39 litre out of the shed last night for extra fridge space for this time of the year. It had not been turned on for over 5 years and still runs like a dream and the temperature this morning inside the fridge has the drinks at a very cool 2 C.
Seasons Greetings.
