Hi All

I have just comed back from Kununurra, home via the Tanami and CSR, and it has been many, many years since I have seen both roads as wet as they are now. I very rarely use all the side tracks but this time no choice.

There were fresh tyre tracks where someone had been fortunate enough to get through from Well 51, or thereabouts, but if anyone else is considering the CSR before the wet is fully over, please don't. There is very little chance anyone will come out if you get stuck, and helicopters through the SES cost a fortune, and they would bill someone travelling during the wet.

Cheers

Hello Marc, I cannot get used to the section from Great Northern Highway to Billiluna being calledthe Tanami beacuse when I drove it often in 1973 we called it the Billiluna Road and to Balgo and on to Alice was just the Rabbit Flat road.

Hi Rob Mac

They are stillinformally known as the Billiluna Road and Rabbit Flat Road, but the entire track is known as the Tanami Track (not road).

We have a different name for the CSR and for Wolfe Creek as well, but there you go.

Cheers

Hi Joe n Mel n Kids

The Sturt Creek has now gone over the low cement crossing, but not by much yet, and all the creeks through Ruby Plains are running. The section between Billiluna and Caranya was nothing but a lake three days ago, fortunately it quickly dissipates.

Yes, we were dry right through last year as well, but this year it seems like it is going to be very different.

You beauty.

I can see a good cherabin season coming! Maybe not at Balgo I'll admit, but surely the Fitzroy is getting something as well?

Cheers.

Hi JB

Okay, I will take your word for that. Incidentally, I am from Mulan, not Balgo. I will find out from my wifes uncle if the Fitzroy Riover is coming up or not.

Cheers

Hi Tony

Great to hear from you my friend. I no longer work in the Mulan Shop, too many damned politics, I prefer just to work and get my job done.

I have gone back to my trade as a boilermaker, and work split shifts in Kununurra, normally getting my 38 hours up in 3 days, then having the rest off.

Look forward to seeing you again my friend.

Cheers

Marc,

why don't you update the road conditions section on the site. It would be of benefit to all members and visitors. Just click on the "Roads" tab on the top left of the forum page and follow your nose from there. Last update for the Canning from 44 through to Billiluna had it as a great drive on 9/12/10.

Cheers Mick
