Hi Allan,

What wonderful photographs. They document a different Australia to the one most of us live in and are so important for future generations to view.

The image of the 'master and apprentice' brings back memories of my childhood and early mornings spent hand milking a few 'house' cows' on our farm before breakfast and school.

Thankyou.

Merry Christmas

Heather G

Actually it was in April/June 2006. Amazing how time slips away isn't it?

Thanks for sharing that Allan. Yes, he is a legend. But we keep finding out more about his amazing life.

As a 19 year old in 1976, I bought one of Jeff Carter's books - a thick hardcover "Great Book of the Australian Outdoors" - It inspired me to do all the outback travelling I have enjoyed since. Much of his advice was aimed at 2wd cars travelling outback - so I spent the following 3 years touring a lot of Australia in a 1969 Corolla wagon which had had a few modificatons, before I copied him and bought a LandRover. That book takes pride of place on my bookshelf along with his Guide to Central Australia.

Yes Phil, I believe that I had that book also but cannot locate it now. Probably loaned it and it has now gone to a better home!

Jeff, along with some others, has left a rich legacy.

Cheers
