The best thing to do is Google Parks Victoria and the like in NSW. At the last look most parks were close in Victorian High Country - What have a Safe oneever you are doing.

Snowy high country was like my icon last Monday. If you do walk from Thredbo to Mt Kosci there is still tons of snow. All roads open in this area See pic below.........WImage Could Not Be Found

For latest road / tack conditions check here

There are some good maps to show these roads about 2 pages down here

The high country is a bit of a mess due to flooding and washouts right now. A LOT of tracks have been washed out and aren't open yet.

You should make a plan then call the local parks ( for National parks) or DSE ( for state forrests) office for the latest.

Also make sure you

-Have clothes and sleeping gear for sub zero and very wet climates
-Have a snorkel and radiater blinds for river crossings
-have muddies
have a great trip

We were there 2 weeks ago. Spent our time around Omeo because it gets less rain. There were a number of tracks closed but still plenty to do and good camps to be had. Nice to see so much water in the rivers. Cobberas and McFarlane tracks were superb to drive.

To get info, I suggest:
Get the Alpine National Park info HERE.

Get the list of track closures HERE. Print it off and take it with you.

For further information, you can call the Omeo parks office on 03 51590600 or 131963. They are very helpful.

Have a great trip

Whoops, just realised my second link is the same as Boobook's.

Also, for the second part of our trip we retreated to a State Forest camp called Bentleys that was easily accessible, east of Swifts Creek. The DSE office at Swifts Creek covers this area and are very helpful (03) 5159 5100. There were some good tracks that were in good nick despite the rain between Swifts Creek and Buchan. Rooftop maps covered it well. Timbarry River had some very good camping.

Phil, I think that might be the Timbarra River.
