I came across the photo of a hut that was named Macalister Gorge Hut but can't find any reference to it other than this photo. Does anybody know the real name of the hut of where it is located?

Thanks

A picture may help to identify it.

Is the photo not coming up? Here is a link that might work to the photo.

Thanks

Having been doing some research, appears the hut is more commonly referred to as Morning Glory Hut or Burgoynes Hut, but still none the wiser where it is exactly (other than on the banks of the Macalister River).

Burgoynes Hut, acc to one source:

http://www.aulro.com/afvb/victorian-high-country-huts-general-chat/74989-hut-burgoynes-licola-way.html

Confirmed in hutsvictoria.org.au Roof now repaired.

No ref in that site to a Morning Glory Hut. But a pic here:

No info on location of either.

That is all I could find as well.
I have asked on AULRO what the location is.

Cool.

I know of a hut near Kiandra that's not on any map I've seen. Not surprising; in the Snowy construction era huts got moved around without any formalities.

That looks as though it’s a reconstructed hut without much heritage value. I might be wrong.

In the old days there were both miners and cattlemen’s hut all through the High Country, but not too many of them exist now (perhaps around 100).

Somebody the other day was telling me that over 80 huts had disappeared in the last 6 – 7 years, either through neglect, fire or Government.

PS: I don't recall the Macalister Gorge Hut at all. Are you sure you have the name right?

Cheers

Apparently it had no permit & has been dismantled.
