We actually tried that about 40 years ago. XM falcon towing an old ski boat on a trailer. Wheelbearing collapsed so we took a white post out and tied it under the axle. Burnt the bloody clutch out trying to get it to move. LOL. The things you do when you are young and stupid. Cheers, Bob

Burt Munro did the same thing when a wheel on his Indian motorbike trailer let go while en route to the Bonneville Salt Flats way back in August 1967.
