Thanks Jeff. I wastalking to the manager from Mert Merty yesterday and he thought that there were vehicles coming through.
That's the reason I asked. I want to go that way next Wednesday.

Yep,

I was thinking of heading out that way next week as well, I'll make up my mind which way to go when we get to Birdsville!

Hi Skip,
I can't help you with Merty Merty to Cameron Corner, but I just got back from Cameron Corner yesterday. We did Silverton to Cameron Corner via Hawker Gate, then through Bourke from Tiboburra.
All these roads are classified as closed but we had no trouble. We checked ahead with relevant authorities and were prepared to turn around if needed but I only got stuck once and that was my fault. There's plenty of water around and Cameron Corner weren't expecting anyone from Queensland for New Years Eve celebrations at the corner post.
It must be remembered that if you have an accident on a road clased as closed you will not be covered by insurance.
Drive safe,
Steve
