Hi Brenton
I have used '1 travel' before but checking they only cover $5000. I
was thinking of a Camper van hire myself is $7500 the general excess or are other companies more or less?

regards Mel

The cheapest way to cover hire vehicle excess is to buy travel insurance. Buy a
policy to cover the nominated driver & you can include vehicle excess. If an incident occurs you pay the hire co & then claim on your travel insurance. I buy on
the net with "Cover 1". All the details can be seen there....oldbaz.

I wonder if is worth ringing or emailing 1 Cover to see if they will increase the limit at reasonable cost. This would certainly be still cheaper than paying the
exhorbitant daily fees the hirers charge to get rid of the excess. I dont believe
the hirer can debit your card for the excess, so you dont lose your available credit. They can if a claim arises, but that is the expensive option. Try to get
the limit raised, it may be negotiable......oldbaz.

If you had a Platinum VISA ro AMEX, you are usually covered for the CDW if you pay with the card
I just got a letter from ANZ VISA advising that the cover was now extended for Australian car hire.
