We recently returned from a caravan rip from
Perth to
Coffs Harbour via
Alice Springs and
Longreach and back via
Broken Hill.
Twice the blue plastic hot water delivery pipe developed a pin hole sized leak at a point about thirty mm from the take off point inside the van under the
seat. Half filled the underseat drawer with hot water each time before discovery. I can't understand why this would happen. There was no friction, the pipe was secure and not kinked. The HWS functioned normally.
Would like to hear from anyone with similar experiences or from any one who can explain why it happened.

Our 09 van has
John Guest fittings and tube throughout for the water works - if yours has that type also, maybe a call to Guests....
John Guest Australia
Haven't seen any leaks in our setup yet.

Not sure whether it's relevant, but our
John Guest hot water pipe is red and cold water is black. 3 vans, same colour scheme no failures. Maybe there are different grades for different applications. Just a thought.

My blue
John Guest cold water failed on the draw bar of the van seems they are not U/V stable and it fractured.
Anyway replaced and put a sleeve of black garden irigation hose over the top to keep the sun light off the blue stuff.
Cheers.

From what I could gather the red and blue pipes on vans are actually truck air
hose so may or may not be UV stabilised
The part of my cold (blue) one on the drawbar has been painted silver either
for cosmetic reasons or to protect it from the sun.

Hello, I have replaced the blue water hose on my van twice, 2nd time I looked into it with more depth and was informed that black and red hoses are more UV stable than blue, replaced with black and then slipped a length of garden hose over it, hopefully this will also protect it from stone damage, as pointed out out in earlier post they are air-line hose,
