I've recently purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Triton Single Cab Ute with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine. My average fuel consumption is around 14L/100kms. I would have expected better fuel consumption than this due to the size of the engine and it being a turbo diesel. (My 80 Series has better consumption than this Triton). I'm not sure whether this is normal or whether I have another issue with the vehicle that I need to have looked at. Can anyone verify whether this fuel consumption is around what it should be. Cheers.

i've got a 2006 2.8tdi dual cab. standard tyres 265/70 16.
it's got just under 140,000k on the clock.
over ~ 48,000km best economy was 10.8l/100k, worst 14.6l/100k average 11.9l/100k.
worst was when towing a camper at fairly high speed ;)
i've got a 134l long range tank and usually fill up at around the 1000k mark ( tank still has varying amounts of fuel ). I think the distance I do between fills tends to average out the best and worst as it's fairly rare to be doing one extreme or another for 1000km. Although the worst figures were done on a trip through the pilbarra and seemed to be pretty consistent.
