Hi all :)
looking to replace all four shock absorbers on our Ford Courier 4wd - is an '01 twin cab diesel with 50mm lift kit (previous to our purchase). Mainly on road use, but a bit of sand / tracks to get to
camping and surfing spots in SW west oz. New to this... Have been looking around and trying to get feed back on what to avoid, and what works. Have been offered some Old Man Emu 'sports Nitrocharger shocks for $170 each.
Any one have experience with OME p;arts? Any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Pete

I avoid gas.
More oil in a shocker without gas, so they stay cooler and fade less on corrugations.......... and they are cheaper too.
I pay under $100 each for "Powerdown" shockers on the OKA.
Cheers,
Peter

I've got Ironman Foam Cell shockers on my Courier and highly recommend them.

Old man emu are a good product.
We have had great success with both the EFS product (3 yr 100,000km warranty) and ride pro. Valving in ridepro product is generally a little softer by design and gives exceptionally comfortable ride.
The point of gas in a shock is to pressurize the oil which reduces aeration and fade so oil only shocks are not suited to light commercial vehicle application where superior dampening is required.
Most shocks these days are pressurized with nitrogen.
Foam cell shocks pressurize the oil by filling it with nitrogen filled 'foam cells'. This is a slightly less effective and cheaper way of getting the gas in the shock.
