Just got my little pop top caravan that sleeps myself and three kids...Just a tent on wheels really...I bought it so I can travel most days over about three weeks (which is difficult tenting)...I live in Wollongong and am looking for a great destination (and journey of course) that travels through Ballina (used to live there..and want to catch up with some old friends)...Any ideas would be much appreciated. I was thinking one of the islands up north but am open to anything...Crocodiles would be good to see....Thanks..

It's an old 85 Jayco...15 foot. It had a bed at each end and the table turns in to one also...I added a bunk over one of the beds...Took it away for a few days it worked really well..

Depends when you are going.

If north of Brisbane there are lots of islands at present.

Some of them were towns 2 weeks ago.

Wouldnt even think of going north from here at the moment.

Hey Richie,

I'd suggest you continue north from ballina, maybe take in Straddy or moreton. but for mine, i'd be going further to maryborough, perhaps even rocky. I'm sure the loacls would appreciate the tourist dollar and there's plenty to see. Beerwah for the australia zoo and your crocs. Fraser island while you're around maryborough and maybe head home inland and see some of the nat parks.
There too many nice places to list but i reckon you'd and more importantly, the kids, would have plenty to do and thoroughly enjoy a trip through that area.

Thanks for that...I was considering Fraser but balk with the caravan....Went there as a young bloke with a group of mates..Great place. I'll look in to Stradbroke I reckon...Similar experience without the sand....I'm "Googling" Beerwah now...Thanks again...Something to start with...I've taken the kids up to Lightning Ridge in tents and they loved it...Went through Goulbourn River, and Warrumbungle NP's...
