Ian i would advise not to fit a turbo to a naturaly asperated engine....the compression ratios are not low enough for prolonged performance factory turbo engines are totally different it would work out cheaper in the long run to sell it and buy a factory turbo or try fitting extractors and a
snorkel this works for me

There are literally thousands of turbos out there fitted to 1HZ motors and if
well set up and running at suitable boost very few have problems. Our local toyota dealer alone has sent thousands to Freeport Indonesia where they get flogged to death for very few problems. Compare that to the factory turbos that are
well nkown for big end problems and cost about 10k more than a 1HZ.

In the last month we have turbo a troopy and 75 series ute the difference is amazing. The troopy has a Turbo Glide unit $3100 and the ute a Safari with a full tune $4200 .The troopy is a great machine to drive now it weight 3 tons and on one
hill is 30 k faster, but the ute is a flyer quick as a car off the mark but it only weight a bit over 2 ton go a head do it you will be amazed, you will wonder how you ever put up with it before.

When i bought my 90 model GXL 80 series 18 months ago it had done 239k and wouldn't pull a sailor of your sister, 60hp on the dyno. I bolted a DTS turbo on and dyno tuned it went to 110hp but was puffing a bit of smoke and using too much fuel We dialed it back to abot 90 hp at the wheels and its fine. Much easier to drive, ideal for training almost impossible to stall and able to be driven a gear higher up hills than previously. It is stonger down low than a friends 93 factory turbo. I seviced the injectors before the turbo was fitted and have recently fitted a straight thru turbo muffler for a noticable power increase.
Cheers Rob
PS a friend has a 100 series diesel auto with a Safari turbo and intercooler and it is absolutely awesome Cheers Rob
