Happy New year fellow campers. We are planning our mid year trip and I was after some ideas/info. We are looking at camping between gladstone and townsville inland and on the coast. Can anyone recommend some goods spots to stay at?

Just before the big wet started we spent about 10 days at Wuruma Dam which is between Eisvold and Monto. It is a free camp with plenty of firewood and while there is fresh water available its probably better to take your own. There are flush toilets at the top of the hill. When we were there the dam was at 16% capacity but now it is full for the first time in its 40 year history. Teriffic snags sold at the Eisvold butcher. Hope this is of some use.

Hi Denise

If you have a 4wd then there are lots of good camping spots north of Yepoon on the beach. Without the 4wd there are still plenty of good spots to access. Look up Byfield on google. Just north of Mackay there is Ball Bay, Halliday Bay, Cape Hillsborough etc. Between Mackay and Rocky there is Camilla.

Regards
Darren

When around Mackay also look at Seaforth - no power but we go there every winter about 85 per week i think - right on the seafront
